Ithaca, NY (February 9, 2022) – Rosie, the leading ecommerce solution for independent retailers and wholesalers, has officially launched Davis Food & Drug in Utah to accept online SNAP payments. Independent retailers who partner with Rosie to offer online shopping are able to accept online payments from customers who wish to use SNAP/EBT.
“Accepting SNAP payments online is going to make a world of difference to our customers” said Jodi Drake, Ecommerce Lead at Davis Food & Drug. “Serving our community is what we do, and now thanks to Rosie, we’re able to fulfill a vital need of our customers. To make it even more convenient for shoppers, we’re excited to announce Davis stores will be waiving the pickup fee for everyone beginning Wednesday, February 9th.”
Rosie enables the store to accept SNAP online payments from the 1 in 9 Americans relying on EBT benefits, as estimated by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. With the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Services’ (FNS) most recent expansion of the SNAP program to online platforms, this software feature will allow recipients to take greater advantage of SNAP/EBT payments at their local grocery stores.
“With grocery ecommerce a part of our everyday lives, it’s essential for independent grocers to have the tools they need to provide solutions to the underserved in their communities, and to compete and win against national chains,” says Dave Makar, Rosie’s Chief Customer Officer. “Technology continues to advance, and we’re proud to be a partner of USDA impacting millions of SNAP recipients nationwide.”
Rosie has established strong expertise in online SNAP payments through close collaboration with retailers, wholesalers, FNS, and Fiserv since Rosie’s partner, Dash’s Market, was selected by the USDA in January 2017 to participate in the SNAP Online Purchasing Pilot. Rosie’s early and longstanding participation ensures retailers selecting Rosie as their ecommerce partner can provide access to all people, at all times, to enough food for a safe, active, and healthy life.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as the Food Stamp program, provides food-purchasing assistance for families living in the U.S. SNAP is a federal program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, under the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), though benefits are distributed at the state level. SNAP is the largest nutrition assistance program, with over 40 million Americans estimated to have participated annually in the 21st century. More than two-thirds of SNAP participants are families with children, while a third are households with senior citizens or people with disabilities.
